Becoming a Commercial Finance Consultant 
Alternative Commercial Finance
Unlike the world of the Business Development Office which has limited accessibility for most, a career as in Independent Commercial Finance Consultant is wide open for both full and part-time practitioners.  Be advised, however, although independent in nature, success in the industry will require the same amount of professionalism and sales skills to excel.  

Virtually all areas of consulting and advisory require that the practitioner be very knowledgeable in the particular area.  It is a "Knowledge-Based" vocation where referrals will depend heavily on your credibility as an "expert". 

Earning Industry Compensation
Many become attracted to the factoring, asset-based lending and alternative commercial finance industry due to the exceptionally lucrative method of compensating "brokers" for client referrals.  Factors, for example, typically provide independent industry consultants with a portion of their fees earned.  Since factoring fees are earned each and every month the client is on the books, the referring broker, known as the broker of record, will receive a check each month...often for many years.  This allows successful brokers to build books of business and a relatively stable monthly income.
